Who are we as a nation?
Consider what you've learned about the dominant philosophical and religious beliefs in early America. The Puritans believe that the world was fallen and that people were sinners who could be redeemed only through the grace of God.
The rationalists believed that the universe was basically good and that doing good for others was the best way to worship God.
How do people today regard the universe and human nature itself? Is our society like that of the Puritans or the rationalists? Can we see both?

Well people today believe that the world is coming to an end. So I guess that is something like what the puritans thought. There are still sinners but if you go to God and ask him for forgiveness and ask him to save you and heal you and ask him to turn you away from all your wicked ways.

I think we are more Rationalist than Puritans. Most people that i know believe that if you do good, god will bless you. Well they say treat others how you would want to be treated. yes, i do think that we can see both also. Sometimes you have no choice but to turn to the grace of god. But i mostly think that if you do something good, god will bless you.

I think that different people think different ways; however, i think its more like the puritans, because if u ask the Lord for forgiveness he will give it to you,and you must do right with the help of the Lord you can't go back and do the same thing over and over again, because sooner or later he will get tired of it.

Well everyone is saying that the world is coming to an end several different ways. Nobody but God knows how the world is going to end. The Aztec Calendar says the world is going to end in 2013, but I don't see it like that. I believe that the world is going to end hell on earth. i see the point of view from the bible.

I would say rationlist. Cause most people think that just because they do good there going to heaven; but if you dont believe in God your not. And I think its pretty sad that most people are going to hell for believing such a thing. So thats why I try to read the Bible,cause it helps me keep from doing something stupid. I guess some people in our country and world today do believe that our world is good and doing good for others is good enough, like the Rationalist believed. God said he would return and I believe he will. In Revelations it talks about the four plauges,and when they return to the earth. God sent seven angels with seven golden viles. The viles were filled with the wrath of God. The bible said that all the dead in christ shall rise. There will be one last battle in this world it is called "The Battle of Armageddon". It also says that one angel will lock satan away for a thousand years then shall he be loosened a little season.
